He says, “To the Jew first, and then the non-Jew.” Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry

Standing in support of Israel, Jews, and believers in all the nations, in the Name of Jesus (Yeshua) Our regular communication to share the Love For His People with our friends. Blessings on ye head!
Nov. 5, 2022 Jerusalem, Israel

Greetings to my family and friends of Love For His People Ministry from Jerusalem, Israel.

On this beautiful, warm November Shabbat day in Jerusalem, I asked the Lord if He wanted me to share another message with you. And when I felt the answer was “Yes!” I then asked the next question, “On what?” The Holy Spirit responded with, “It is not on what but who. Thomas.” And thus I share this fresh word from Jerusalem, about my new friend Thomas.

Please `read below, “To the Jew First, and then to the non-Jews – Jerusalem, Israel Series“. I know you too will like meeting Thomas from Jerusalem. He is standing to the left in the photo above with my good friend Nouri Hawa.

Shabbat Shalom from Jerusalem!

Ahava,

Steve Martin, Founder, Love For His People Ministry

To the Jew first, and then to the non-Jews – Jerusalem, Israel Series

“But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” Matthew 15:24, NKJV

Most of the friends I have here in Israel are believers – Messianic Jews who know Yeshua is the Messiah and walk in His ways and His purposes for all of Israel. I have known several of them for 12-15 years, and have written of their lives and stories often in my messages and books. (Photo above: Steve and Louie. You’ll read more below.

Others are Jewish Orthodox friends, such as shop owners on Ben Yehuda Street, including Uri and Danny Boy. And then there is now Rueben, who I just met on this Ahava Adventure, owning a small snack/drink shop on Bezalel Street, up from the main thoroughfare of King George Street. Rueben knows little English, and I know little Hebrew, but our smiles communicate as I give him NIS10 (10 shekels, about $2.86) for an ice coffee almost daily.

Typically, all things start small. But it is important that they start.

Blessing the Jewish people goes beyond what some may think. It is showing the love of Yeshua in any way that they will receive. And I am willing to give Him to them, in any way I can.

There is one other I want to share with you who also lives here. He is not a Jew, but a Gentile (goyim in Hebrew), as I am, but our God created him also. His love extends beyond the cultural stigmas that can and do exist in this world. But having His heart I can love them too. Salvation is for everyone who will receive it. Yeshua showed us that when He walked this very land I am in now.

“Jesus got up and went away from there to the region of Tyre. And when He had entered a house, He wanted no one to know of it; yet He could not escape notice. But after hearing of Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet. Now the woman was a Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

But she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.” And He said to her, “Because of this answer go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” And going back to her home, she found the child lying on the bed, the demon having left.” Mark 7:24-30, NASU

This one I want you to now meet is named Thomas. I met Thomas just two days ago when I went to my friend Louie’s shop (Loai Mubayed is his given name) inside the Jaffa Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City. I had my book, “An Ahava Adventure with the Four Louis Brothers” (now in hardcover!) with Louie’s story in it, an Arab from Jericho. It was my gift to him. He needed encouragement with his finances (the shop was not doing well even with all the tourists back), and then gout due to diabetes set in. I prayed with him after I gave him the autographed book, in Yeshua’s Name.

When I headed back to the Jaffa Gate, I was very happy to see my Nouri Hawa standing beside his taxi.

“Nouri!” I yelled. “It is good to see you!”

“Yes, my friend, it is good to see you too. Welcome back to Jerusalem” he replied. “And I want you to meet my friend, Thomas,” who stood by him. (Lead photo above – Thomas, with Nouri on the right)

Thomas introduced himself, saying “I am not the doubting Thomas. For I have been through a lot. I had a previous shop that my partner stole hundreds of thousands from me, and then left me broke. I am starting this new shop,” pointing to one behind him. “I hope this one will do well, as I go to dialysis three times a week for four hours each and need to pay the medical bills,” as he lifted his right-hand sleeve up and showed me huge blood bubbles (not sure of the medical term) on his forearm.

I felt the Holy Spirit tell me “Yes” when he asked me to come to see his new place.

As I entered the store, my eyes saw all the fine Judaica, souvenirs, and tourist gift items that all the shops within the Old City hope to sell from their bounty of goods. Because I had been looking to replace an olive wood camel to replace one I had given away from my home collection just prior to the plane departure from Charlotte, North Carolina two weeks ago, one special camel carrying two water jugs on its back, I asked him if he had one to look at.

“Of course,” he replied, as we walked over to the shelf with the olive wood carvings.

I saw one I wanted, marked for NIS130 (about $36.65), and said, “I’ll take this one,” after telling him why I wanted the jug-bearing camel.

“Is it for you or your friend?” he wanted to know.

“Well, it’s for me, to replace the one I already gave to my friend.”

“Then it is my gift to you,” he spoke with a big smile, as he handed it back to me.

As the Lord gives me more opportunities to come back to Israel every year, I will certainly continue to establish this friendship the Lord began with Thomas and me. I am going to do as He did, and be a light to as many as He leads me to share His light. Often more through action rather than just words.

“Yeshua declared publicly, “Those who put their trust in me are trusting not merely in me, but in the One who sent me. Also those who see me see the One who sent me. I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who trusts in me might not remain in the dark.” John 12:44-46, Complete Jewish Bible

The Father’s heart beats for His people, the Jews, and also for those who need saving too. That amounts to billions.

Walking in His light enables us to share it with those He takes us to.

“It’s news I’m most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else! God’s way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: “The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives.” Romans 1:16-17, THE MESSAGE

The world needs people like you and me. To go to people like them. Hear the call and come on!

SILENCE IS NOT GOLDENby Steve Martin(published August 21, 2022)

There was a song popular in 1967 entitled, “Silence Is Golden” by The Tremeloes. They were a British band sharing their songs there and in the USA.

But that was then. This is now. We are not to be silent when our voices and courage are to be loud and strong. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to speak His Word, share His love, and do that which He has commissioned and ordained us to do. That means speaking up.

SILENCE IS NOT GOLDEN are messages to inspire and encourage you to speak, write, go and do that which the Lord has put in your heart to do. We must do it now, or it will be too late.
