The Ahava Adventure Continues…Day 4 in Jerusalem April 6, 2022. The former taxi driver, Nouri Hawa

Many, many people have come to Israel to walk the Land where Yeshua (Jesus) walked; to tour the Holy Land filled with archeological proof of the Jew’s promised homeland since the Lord gave it to Abraham; and to experience the Bible as they have never done so before. These vastly rich, eternal experiences received have changed, and continue to inspire, people’s lives forever. Beautiful facts to bring eternal truths and make them personal.

Once you have walked where Jesus walked, and are expecting His soon return, your perspective on life can be exchanged from one of self-inward fulfillment to a world view giving you love for His people.

For when the eternal Lord reaches your heart and lifts you out of your desire to “get all you can” to one of “give all you have been given”, He can accomplish His plans and purposes for you, and the ones He has sent you to minister to.

So, it has been with my life.

After establishing the ministry of Love For His People in 2010, the Lord has opened the doors further to bring more of His heart of love to a people chosen by Him to reveal Himself to the world. Getting to know them in a personal, living relationship enables His intentions to come forth, uniting Jews and Gentiles as family and eternal friends.

One such friendship began in October 2019 when four men, myself included, arrived in Jerusalem, as we continued on our way in what I call “Ahava Adventures” (“ahava” is love in Hebrew) after days of travel in the Galilee and Golan parts of Israel. A main aspect of these trips is to connect Gentiles to Jews and believers to other believers outside of your normal circle. With that intent in mind, the Lord makes those connections in sometimes simple ways.

(Side note: I wrote of that adventure in my book An Ahava Adventures: The Four Louis Brothers in Israel on Amazon)

A friend from church, David Lauka, and I had gone out earlier in the morning to walk in the Jerusalem city park, waiting for the other two guys to get acclimated to the new day. Just as we were about to cross the street to the rented apartment we had for five days, this man pulls up in his white van to the curb and asks, “Do you want to go see the Mount of Olives? I can take you anywhere you want.”

Always hesitant at first when an unknown person approaches you, sometimes suspicious of their intentions, the conversation went on further until I said, “Ok, give me 10 minutes after I talk to the other two. Give me your card and I’ll call you back.”

For the next four hours we ended up traveling with Nouri Hawa, a taxi driver whom I am convinced just needs an official piece of paper to make him “officially” a great tour guide. His warm heart, knowledge of the Land he has grown up in, and desire to provide for his twin daughters through college allow you to enter his world and expand your own.

It was such a joy listening to him that I recorded several time capsules as he drove and put them on our YouTube channel within a few days, to share with others back home and ones who also love Israel, along with those who will get to love Israel and the people as they do hear of what the Lord has done.

Nouri and I stayed in touch over these past years, even through the tough lockdown times over this period, when he lost his job due to the inability of tourists to get into Israel. Very tough months for him, his family, and this nation as a major portion of the nation’s economy vanished almost overnight.

The Lord had connected us, and with the help of others through Love For His People, we were able to send some funds as best we could to help him get through this.

So, when I sent Nouri a WhatsApp message this Wednesday at 4:15 am (hoping it wouldn’t wake him and he’d respond when he got up!) he immediately responded, which set in motion another wonderful time David Peterman and I had with Nouri.

I want to particularly mention one thing Nouri said to me as we were together.

“I feel like I am being renewed and what was dead is coming back to life,” as he drove us to Bethany and the Tomb of Lazarus.

And my response to him was, “May this be new beginnings and new life from this day forward.”

By our coming to Israel at this appointed time, the Lord is bringing restoration and encouragement to those we encounter.

Let it be, Lord! More of You in their lives!

Experience him for yourself. Of course, I have photos and videos on our website and our YouTube channel. Search for “Ahava Adventures” on both platforms, and “Nouri Hawa” in particular. (One of today’s videos:
