“Good people celebrate when justice triumphs…” Proverbs 21:15, THE MESSAGE
We see it constantly all around us – the injustice that seems to go on and on and on with no end in sight. Our hearts are troubled when the liars keep lying; those who steal keep stealing; the stronger continually taking advantage of the weak.
How long, O Lord, will the unjust act unjustly? Where is justice? Where is Your justice?
It wearies us to see the world around bent on performing unjust acts, beginning with the unborn which cannot speak up on their own behalf, to the elderly who are shut up bearing the hardships of poverty and the dismissal by families who no longer care for them.
The mighty nations are overcoming the weaker, killing the innocent and destroying their homes and livelihood, while proclaiming their acts as proper and just.
Often in Psalms David wrote of the wicked seemingly prospering, fearing no retaliation or punishment for their actions, believing they could continue in their ways without accountability. He often asked of the Lord, “When will you act on our behalf”.
Many times my spirit groans too, wondering when the Lord will deal with the unrighteous, the haughty, the ones who get away with sin with no consequences realized. When will it end?
“How long shall the wicked, O Lord, how long shall the wicked exult? They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly; all who do wickedness vaunt themselves. They crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger and murder the orphans. They have said, ” The Lord does not see, nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.” Psalm 94:3-7, NASU
I know I wonder how long certain ones will keep getting away with their lies, their deceit, their abuse, and wrongdoing. Even when their ways are exposed and the truth is shown, is there any repercussions? Why are they not put in jail, made to pay the price, and justice served when it is as plain as day that wrong was done? When will they be made to cease the killing and be held accountable?
When we struggle during these times, our hearts must remain steadfast that the Lord is constantly in control and He will judge, He will bring justice, He will do away with the wicked and uphold the righteous.
“God will never walk away from his people, never desert his precious people. Rest assured that justice is on its way and every good heart put right.” Psalm 94:14-16, THE MESSAGE
We can be assured that Scripture will be fulfilled and our God will act on our behalf.
“I stood up for justice and the right; don’t leave me to the mercy of my oppressors. Take the side of your servant, good God; don’t let the godless take advantage of me. I can’t keep my eyes open any longer, waiting for you to keep your promise to set everything right.
Let your love dictate how you deal with me; teach me from your textbook on life. I’m your servant — help me understand what that means, the inner meaning of your instructions. It’s time to act, God; they’ve made a shambles of your revelation!” Psalm 119:121-126, THE MESSAGE
Accountability for all actions will occur. The day is coming when we will see the goodness of our God, and His justice brought about, as His Kingdom is brought to the earth. Those who seek to exalt themselves will be brought down, and we will see Him act on behalf of His people.
Our trust is in the Lord God of Israel. He will bring the justice so rightly desired.
