Greetings to our Love For His People family and friends.
With the new school year having begun, and my good wife Laurie retiring from her 20 years at a prominent child development center in August, we now have a young man, grandson Levi, age 5, coming to our home every day after school. This is his first year – a kindergartner!
As do many kids his age, Legos is a big deal. Every day, upon arrival to our home, like clockwork he pulls out the bags and large tin can they have their home in and dumps them out. On the floor. On the couch. Wherever is convenient for him. And then he starts building.
His imagination makes my mind expand beyond my almost 67 years. What he sees in his creations is far more than I would ever picture, but I go along with it. That’s what grandpas do when it comes to playing with little kids.
On one particular day, after he put together a blue, red, white, green, and yellow creation, he let me name it. He said it was an animal. So I did. I gave it a special name.
“Teddy the Tortoise,” I said.
He looked at me. Thought a minute, and replied, “Teddy the Tortoise.”
Now to some, building animals out of Legos seems like an odd thing to do. Why not build a big skyscraper? Or a race car with the #24 on the side? Or how about a village with a train track going around it? (Hey, this is a 5-year old and an almost 67-yr old. Not Einstein.)
But as I got to thinking, and allowing Holy Spirit to speak to me, I realized that we serve a great, big, always creating God, Whom Himself enjoys spending time with His kids, sharing His imaginative thoughts, and allowing us to experience just a bit more of His love in this crazy, upside-down world we at times live in.
And how often does He see things different from that way we would first perceive them to be? May He open our eyes to how He sees things, letting our eyes see as He does in the situations and days we live in.

Next time you spend time with your kids and/or grandkids, ask them what they think of God, and share some of your knowledgeable insights. Pray also that they too will get to know Him in a very special way. They certainly will need His solid foundation and understanding of His world in our world in the days to come, if not even so now.

P.S. Once again, for the 6TH TIME in the last 2 years, we had to cancel/postpone our trip planned for October 2021 to Israel to be with friends. But we will yet get there someday! Hopefully in the spring of 2022.

Trust Me Still – Your Faith in God by Steve Martin
During the years 1960-1974 my family, with parents Louis and Lila Martin, and my siblings, Sue, Mary, Tom, Colleen, Janet, Lynn and Rob, lived at 1116 Main Street in Cedar Falls, Iowa. That home is pictured on the front cover of this book, and of this date still stands.
It was in that home that we grew in knowledge and truth to trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. With the input given to all of us through our parents, be it during the good and the bad times, a good foundation was laid for our spiritual, social, and natural lives.
I decided to feature that house on the cover because I want to acknowledge that the Lord decides where we live, and move, and exist.
“… and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;” Acts 17: 26-27, NASB
Since those years have come and gone, my faith in Him has grown, been tested, and still stands strong, continuing to trust in Him day in and day out.
I hope these following chapters encourage you in your walk of faith. And at the end of your days, you will be known as one who has stood strong, still trusting in the Living God. He alone is the One Who can take you to the end, and who constantly watches over Israel and all believers in Him. He is the One too Who is coming back soon again.
