“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going.” John 14:2-4, NASB
Ever since I was a small boy I believed in heaven, the place the Lord promised to take us when we passed from this earth. There have always been several questions about the place, and from time to time I would think about what it would be like, who would be there, and what we would do. Any yes, even asking if our former 12-year-old pet dog Dachshund Zoe would be there.
Wanting to know what others have said about it, I purchased two books written by Kat Kerr entitled “Revealing Heaven – An Eyewitness Account”, I and II. After many tours of heaven, she writes of specific accounts of being near the Throne Room, seeing the redeemed (“eyewitnesses”) already there, and understanding the resulting lives of those who were aborted or died at a very early age. Profound reading.
For those who believe in prophetic giftings, and prophets, I too was a bit skeptical about this particular older lady with the pink streaks in her hair which I had seen from time to time when speaking with other prophetic men and women. (Before being judgmental as I was at first, please read her story as to why she has her hair styled that way. At times we may too be called upon to do strange things, in our eyes! But let’s just hope it is not to lie naked on your side for many days, as one prophet had to do as a sign to the people of Israel in the Old Testament!)
It is in the heart of God to give us encouragement and reveal more of His love to us. Thus He has given several people the opportunity to go to the third heaven, get a glimpse, and report back to share. These are not weird people or those wanting to make a name for themselves. Remember the movie “Heaven is for Real” (TriStar Pictures, 2014) with the little boy Colton Burpo and his family? He certainly experienced the Lord in His heavenly place and shared it with those who would hear. If you haven’t seen the production, you will certainly enjoy it too.
In the New American Standard version of the Bible there are 637 Scriptures (BibleGateway.com) speaking of heaven, from the very beginning in Genesis 1:1 to the very end of the Book in Revelation 21.
Thinking and imagining of heaven doesn’t make one “no earthly good”. It does put within us a longing to be there with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, and live for eternal along with the Father and Holy Spirit. Desiring to have a large family, They give each and every one the opportunity to receive salvation and eternal life with Them. Our choice.
Imagine not having to endure sin and the presence of sin all around us. Heaven for sure.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will [a]dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them[b], 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Revelations 21: 1-4 NASB
“I saw no [q]temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its [r]temple. 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth [s]will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; 26 and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those [t]whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:22-27, NASB
Heaven is a real place, created for those who love God and want to be forever in His presence. Next time you feel overburdened, in doubt, sick or discouraged, and wanting a better place, remember that our reward will be fully given when we get to heaven. Knowing this not only will encourage us to press on but will be a reason to walk in faith and love among those around us.
