Greetings to our Love For His People family and friends.
“My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. Make Your face to shine upon Your servant; save me in Your lovingkindness.” Psalm 31:15-16, NASU
Take a moment with me and consider what a difference a year has made. As I further thought about my preparations for our annual Love For His People ministry board meeting, as we are starting our 12th year, I was a bit amazed at how the last 12 months had transpired.
Two planned trips to Israel were canceled, several times. My good wife was looking at another three years of working at her 20-year daycare job with 10 two-year-olds. (Wow!) My accounting position at our local church and the contract job in uptown Charlotte were in full swing. I had just returned from a 12-day trip to India after teaching 14 sessions on the importance of Christians supporting Israel and the Jews to the 90 pastors in attendance.
We were planning to have weekend conferences on the need for churches gathering together (March 2020) and another on aliyah for Jews from America (July 2020)…and our incumbent president was surely going to have a second term in office come November.
But what a difference a year can make.
No trips. A canceled conference. Coming to realize the day jobs were coming to an end. And the election was over with unbelievable results.
So how about you? Did any of your plans get changed in these last 12 months? Any new ones that came to be, unexpectantly?
What a comfort to know that our times are in His hands. If it was not for the Scripture above, which remains one of my favorite verses, it certainly would have been a turbulent time. I do not know how those with no basis of faith make it. We all need the Savior, the Lord Jesus, at all times.
With 2021 already two months into the making my hopes remain firmly on Him. With disappointments, some discouragement, a bit of uncertainty thrown in the mix, adding more faith, trust, and hope, together with increased love for the brethren, will keep us striving for the joy that is promised to come.
Changes will continue to come. Unexpectant times will challenge our daily walk. Hope renewed will reaffirm that our times are in His hands, and we can press on.
Stay strong on the foundation and at this time next year, you will know it once again has been Him holding us in His hands.
Ahava and shalom,
