“When he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9-10, NASU
Powerful would not begin to explain what happened last night in our home group gathering of believers. One generation stood and brought forth the word of the Lord to the next generation. Freedom, release, awesome would be additional words needed to describe the move of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord is moving among our sons and our daughters. When I say that, it is coming from the perspective that I am among the “older generation”, and now is the time for our sons and daughters to rise up, get out, and stand for the Word of the Lord instilled in them when we attempted, as young parents and now “old”, to seed within them.
“Come out of the cave!” was the powerful, yes powerful prophetic word released to one very close to Laurie and I, spoken from a dear friend of our for over 35 years. The Lord, through her, was calling forth our offspring, the man of God that he is, to come forth out of the cave.
Father God was not only bringing deliverance, freedom, and release to this one of ours, but He is also speaking that forth, as the Lion of Judah that He is, for the 20-40 somethings to “Come out of the cave!”
Come out from hiding. Come out from walking in fear. Come out from under the shame and disgrace that the enemy of your soul has lied about to you for far too long. Come out and do that which your Lord, the Living God of Israel, has called you to be!
Even as the God of Elijah called him out, so He is calling you out.
“Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He said, ” I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
So He said, ” Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9-14, NASU
To this generation that my sons and daughters (2 each) have grown up with – “What are you doing here, hiding in the cave? It is time to come out and put on the mantle, take up the staff of authority, and declare forth the Words of the Lord Who Himself rules in the heavens, and is bringing His kingdom on this earth.
No longer are you to let the voice of the enemy rule the airwaves. No longer are you to sit back and let your parents do it. It is time for you to get up, to take up, and go forth in the wonderful and powerful call on your life that He has given you to do.
No fear. But faith. No despair but hope. No shame but forgiveness. No death but life!
And when you come out of the cave we will throw our cloak, our mantles over you, even as Elijah did for Elisha.
“Elijah went straight out and found Elisha son of Shaphat in a field where there were twelve pairs of yoked oxen at work plowing; Elisha was in charge of the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak over him.” 1 Kings 19:19, THE MESSAGE
You have been called. You have been anointed. You have been given the mantle. Now go do it.
Come out of the cave. The Lord needs you. We need you. Take up the sword of the Lord, put on the armor of God, and get in the fight – for your future, for your nation, for the people of God Almighty.
