“…because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.” Isaiah 49:7 NASB
When you continue to be faithful in daily Bible reading, even at times when the urge is not to do it today, because you are too tired, pre-occupied, distracted by the things of this world…He will be faithful to reveal even more of Himself to you as you press on.
He is the One who encourages, strengthens, “recharges” you through His Holy Spirit.
I enjoy reading the One New Man Bible, published in 2011 by Rev. William J. Morford. He gives some renditions of Scripture, revealing our Jewish roots, that others do not. This gives another aspect of what was said, and then what was written, for us to know and understand.
As I continued on in my reading of Isaiah 49, describing how the Lord has chosen and called His Servant, Yeshua HaMashiach, to bring back the dispersed Jews from around the nations in our days, I was struck by the one word at the end of the passage following:
“Listen to Me, O islands,
And pay attention, you peoples from afar.
The Lord called Me from the womb;
From the [a]body of My mother He named Me.
2 He has made My mouth like a sharp sword,
In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me;
And He has also made Me a [b]select arrow,
He has hidden Me in His quiver.
3 He said to Me, “You are My Servant, Israel,
In Whom I will [c]show My glory.”
4 But I said, “I have toiled in vain,
I have spent My strength for nothing and vanity;
Yet surely the justice due to Me is with the Lord,
And My reward with My God.”
5 And now says the Lord, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant,
To bring Jacob back to Him, so that Israel might be gathered to Him
(For I am honored in the sight of the Lord,
And My God is My strength),
6 He says, “It is too [d]small a thing that You should be My Servant
To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also make You a light [e]of the nations
So that My salvation may [f]reach to the end of the earth.”
7 Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One,
To the despised One,
To the One abhorred by the nation,
To the Servant of rulers,
“Kings will see and arise,
Princes will also bow down,
Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.” Isaiah 49:1-7
In the One New Man Bible, the last word above, “You”, is in small caps. Now we know that the entire passage is about Yeshua, the Savior, Who is the “Light to the Nations”, the “Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One”, and “the Lord who is faithful”, but I sensed the Holy Spirit share this with me.
Those also who have been chosen and called, who hear and obey the Word of the Lord sent to them, to follow Him as His disciples, then become the Body of Christ. Because they, we, are then the Body of Christ, the One New Man, we are becoming like Him. We have been given the same assignment as is on His Father’s heart for Yeshua to do.
We too have been chosen to help bring back The Chosen to their Land, the Land of Israel, Y’srael.
This is not about Replacement Theology, the centuries old lie of Satan stating that “the Church” has replaced Israel to receive the promises of God. Never!
This is about you and me, grafted into the living olive tree, to be first – one with Yeshua (Jesus) – and then second, with all others who believe, Jew and Gentile, as the One New Man.
“Now if the hallah (bread) offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole loaf. And if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you — a wild olive — were grafted in among them and have become equal sharers in the rich root of the olive tree, then don’t boast as if you were better than the branches! However, if you do boast, remember that you are not supporting the root, the root is supporting you.
So you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” True, but so what? They were broken off because of their lack of trust. However, you keep your place only because of your trust. So don’t be arrogant; on the contrary, be terrified! For if God did not spare the natural branches, he certainly won’t spare you!” Romans 11:16-22, Complete Jewish Bible
Paul also writes further in Ephesians 2:14-18 on being joined as one in Him: “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” (NKJV)
Thus, as I see it, we have been chosen and called to come together, Jew and Gentile in Messiah Yeshua, Jesus Christ, to carry out His plans and purposes – together with those He is joining to form His Body of believers.
At this time, as we understand the timing in all of history as prophesied centuries ago, in these last days, His primary focus in on two major points – saving the people of the earth as they repent and turn to Him for redemption, and also bringing back His chosen ones, the Jews, to Israel, so they can know Him, their Messiah.
For me, I am thankful for being chosen and called to be a part of both.
How about you?
It is time to act upon what is being revealed to our eyes and hearts through His Holy Spirit.
