Greetings family and friends!
The Feast of Shavuot, (Weeks) is being celebrated today through May 30, with Pentecost coming on Sunday, May 31.
Shavuot (Feast of Weeks) commemorates the revelation of the Torah on Mt. Sinai to the Jewish people, and occurs on the 50th day after the 49 days of counting the Omer. Shavuot is one of the three biblically based pilgrimage holidays known as the shalosh regalim. It is associated with the grain harvest in the Torah.
On Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, and Passover, the 120 disciples were instructed to wait and pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit as promised by Yeshua. They obeyed, and on the 50th day received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with evidence of speaking in tongues and having “pillars of fire” come over them, even as the Pillar of Fire was over the Tabernacle in Moses’ time in the wilderness.
The disciples were empowered to take the Good News, the Gospel, to the Jews first, and later Gentiles were added, in all the nations.
Chag Shavuot Sameach! (Happy Feast of Weeks and Pentecost)
Ahava and shalom,
