Watchman May Update: How YOU made a difference last month – Rabbi Tuly Weisz

May 11, 2020

Dear Watchmen on the Wall,

April has come and gone, taking with it some incredible experiences we will never forget. You should be so proud to know that your monthly contribution to the Israel365 Charity Fund has touched the lives of so many here in Israel over the turbulent month of April. THANK YOU!!

Passover Seders were held in isolation, Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Haatzmaut) was without the usual festivals and parties, and Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron) and Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom Hashoah) events were all virtual due to COVID-19.

While COVID-19 has proven to be challenging to everyone, it has been exceptionally difficult for some. With the elderly and the sick forced to stay at home as they are at a higher risk, Israel365 made sure to launch lifesaving programs to help those in need.

Before Passover, I visited many elderly Jews to supply them with food and matzah for their Seder meals. Many of them haven’t made a Seder in decades since they were used to spending the holiday with their children and grandchildren, so even in isolation, we did our best to ensure that everyone’s Passover table was fit for a king!
Shortly after Passover comes Yom Hashoah / Holocaust Memorial Day. For Holocaust survivors, this year was of course especially difficult as they could not attend events and programs in memory of their family members. Instead they were all alone with just their haunting memories. Israel365 would not let Holocaust Survivors spend the day alone, and I had the honor to stand in solidarity and deliver loving gifts to our precious survivors.
Thanks to YOU we were able to support and help the elderly in Israel during this difficult time.

Because the whole world is in isolation, there has been an increased demand in online learning as everyone looks to expand their horizons. That’s why Israel365 and our Yeshiva for the Nations have been hard at work to deliver free Zoom Torah classes from Israel. Feel free to explore our classes here.

Finally, we reached our goal and milestone of planting trees in 71 communities throughout Israel over the course of the past year. By partnering with us, as a Watchman on the Wall, you enabled us to fulfill prophecy and beautify 71 different towns all over the Jewish State, which you can read about here, on Breaking Israel News.
Thanks to your help, we have managed to ease the worries, concerns, and fears of many who have had it the hardest these past few months confronting Corona. We cannot thank you enough!

I continuously pray for your health and continued wellbeing and that you should continue to always be a source of blessing to the Land of Israel.

With Gratitude,
Rabbi Tuly Weisz
