Learned to abide? – Love For His People newsletter, Steve Martin

April 18, 2020 Charlotte, North Carolina USA

Greetings to Love For His People ministry friends and supporters.

Spring is busting out. I am ready too, as I am sure you are – just itching to do something beyond what has been in the last month, i.e. travel and get on with what the Lord has in store next.

Though my good wife Laurie and I have been working (here at home and going to my two “essential” accounting jobs), doing the grocery runs, and a bit more beyond the “stay-at-home” edict, we are ready. And if Israel or American Airlines cancels our booked May trip to the good Land, I will for sure be getting the next flight I can. I miss my friends in Israel and want to bring encouragement to them in the Lord. He has kept them safe, and now is setting the time to push on in His plans.

There is a transition coming for each of us – coming out of one season and beginning another. Keeping our heart attuned to His will keep each of us in step for the next one. Are you listening and ready? He just gave you a month to do so, right?

With this communication letter, I am trying something new. Rather than just give you the link to my last Now Think On This – Abide in Me message I am including the entire message here. But don’t be alarmed with a little change! It is only within the 2-3 minutes most people now give to reading anything in this fast pace era. Yes?! (But notice how the Lord took care of that…)

Carry on as things open up for you. I trust during this time He allowed you to take some extra time to listen to Jesus. If you did, you are ready. If not, well, I pray you still do.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin, Founder/President Love For His People ministry

P.S. Extra time on your hand and tired of what the TV offers? Enjoy watching the Ahava Adventures short videos from Israel last October! Watch here: “Walk With Me” – Israel Ahava Adventures!

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-6, NKJV

I have no fear of dying. In fact, I look forward to the day when my mission here on earth is completed, I have done what the Lord has given me to do, and the time comes when He calls me home. I hope you can say the same.

Early on in my Christian walk, He taught me to abide in Him, to call upon His Name, to seek Him in all things. It has been a journey, but to trust in His ways, plans, and purposes bring the peace we all have sought.

David drew near to the Lord often, as he too faced the ongoing pursuit by his enemies and the fears that came with life in general. But as he faced all these, his confidence grew in the One who watched over his soul, Who proved Himself faithful to guide and protect.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamps against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arises against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.

One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LordAnd to meditate in His temple.” Psalm 27:1-4, NASU

It amazes me how people try to live apart from knowing the Lord and abiding in Him. Observing their life results, as they seek all but Him, further implants into my heart how faithful He is, how loving He is, how merciful He is. And even though He gives each the opportunity to call upon His Name, to choose Him or not, the choices made reveals the eternal life each will later live. With Him or apart from Him.

It also amazes me how people still chose to deny the existence of God even in the midst of chaos around them, as if we are just here on this planet with no further purpose than to live for all we can get, and then die 60-80 years later. How sad. How very sad that is.

Apart from the Lord, we can do nothing. As Jesus Himself said in John 15:6, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Or to put it another way, anything we do apart from Him will amount to nothing.

What have you done? Has it been in and for the Lord’s purposes and plans? Or will the life already lived end up accounting for nothing, if it was to end today? The God of the Universe is calling to us, to choose His ways.

We each have been given the opportunity to abide in Christ, the Messiah, the Giver of life. With the time He has each given us, what will be our account when we stand in front of Him on that day?

“I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there — before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived.Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead.

Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death — Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.” Revelation 20:11-15, THE MESSAGE

Assurance of His presence in our life, His leading and directing our steps comes by abiding in Him, by taking the time He gives each of us, daily, to seek His face, find His will, and walk in His ways. Each has been given 24 hours each day. What we choose to do with it will determine our destiny.

Now is the time to walk with the Lord, abide in Him, and know His ways. The life He gives is the one we have always sought for. But it is up to us to choose wisely and daily.

I encourage you to do so. Peace, hope, and true love will then be yours. We will have fulfillment in our hearts and the assurance of His eternal reward when that day comes, and the next one begins.

Now think on this.

Ahava and shalom,

Now Think On This #502 – in the year of our Lord 04.18.2020 – “Abide in Me” – Saturday, 7:00 am in Charlotte, NC USA

Think About It. Again. Or for the first time. by Steve Martin

With my 500th Now Think On This message having been written in April 2020, I started wondering a year ago what it would be to re-publish some of the earlier, or for that matter, more recent ones that seemed to have a prophetic nudge to them. I started out by coming up with a name and a logo, (I love logos!) for these new, and yet old messages, and gave them the name, “Think About It. Again. Or for the First Time.”

Then I went through some of those earlier ones to see what I had written, anticipating that they would be appropriate and fitting to republish. Hoping they had a “timeless” edge to them. As I found them I published them again over this last 12 months on our website www.loveforhispeople.com.

When the time came having accumulated enough for a small book, believing 15 or 16 would do, another book would come forth. And behold, it did! You may have read them when published for the first time, but that would have been from over 8 years ago when I started. If not, I hope you get inspired as you read them now, giving a new hope, some more encouragement, and maybe even a smile that would appear on your face.

Let there be blessings on ye head, Steve Martin

Paperback ($7.95) and Kindle ($1.95): Think About It Again. Or for the 1st time.
