“Fear No Evil” – Now Think On This” by Steve Martin

March 26, 2020 Love For His People ministry in Charlotte, NC USA

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me…” Psalm 23:4, NASU

We have all recited the entire words of Psalm 23. Now, if we haven’t before, we have been given the opportunity from the Lord to put into practice what we have heard so often and may even have preached ourselves to others.

So now we get to…

Walk the walk. Not just the talk.

Do now what our mouths have said we do for so long previously.

Be lights in the dark world. “Let this little light shone.”

All the above.

How often have we heard in many churches the Bible message of walking in faith and not in fear? At least in those buildings where the leaders, teachers, and preachers are not giving an “all is OK” message every Sunday, as is probably done at the so-called “seeker-friendly, come as you are and stay that way, for God is love” ones. Not to be critical. Just factual.

And so when “all that can be shaken will be shaken” comes, then what? Has the Word heard gotten into our spirit, or did it go into one ear and out the other. For tests come, and this is another one that we live in.

“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”  Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:25-29, NKJV

How many gods have fallen during this current time of shaking? I can name a few. The sports gods, the entertainment gods, the “eat and be merry” gods. Especially the economic gods above all. All have been shaken and many have fallen down.

The Lord continually reaches out His hand to us and beckons us to follow after Him, to put our faith in Him, to trust solely on Him, His ways, and His purposes.

When those opportunities come, do you? Have you? Will you?

Let us be the ones who know the Lord, walk in His ways, stand strong on His faithful and proven promises, and give hope to our family, friends, and those He puts in our sphere of influence, and be the people He has called us to be.

Don’t freak out over uncertainties. That only proves you don’t believe what you have said you believe. Instead, lean close to the heart of the Father so you can hear His voice and stand in faith.

We need not fear any evil. Our times are in His hands. Now is the time to prove to ourselves, and others, that we believe what we have said we believe.

Psalm 23, Complete Jewish Bible

Adonai is my shepherd; I lack nothing.

He has me lie down in grassy pastures,

he leads me by quiet water,

he restores my inner person.

He guides me in right paths

for the sake of his own name.

Even if I pass through death-dark ravines,

I will fear no disaster; for you are with me;

your rod and staff reassure me.

You prepare a table for me,

even as my enemies watch;

you anoint my head with oil

from an overflowing cup.

Goodness and grace will pursue me

every day of my life;

and I will live in the house of Adonai

for years and years to come.”

Psalm 23, NKJV

“The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Forever.”

Now think on this.
