“What if? Are you asking this question?” – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

March 23, 2020 Love For His People ministry Charlotte, NC USA

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit — but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25, THE MESSAGE

There are a lot of “What if? (s) out there right about now. I am sure several whom you know have asked them in your hearing. And you too have asked the same question, or questions?

What if I lose my job?

What if the kids are out of school way beyond what I can handle as their parent?

What if the church I have been going to no longer meets due to government regulations?

What if I can’t go to the movies, the sports events, the championship games, the soccer match, the big trip I had planned?

What if I lose that one who I thought was the one?

What if I can’t get the stuff I want? I need? I for so long worked for, but now it is unavailable or gone?

What if all this shaking is shaking my foundation, my beliefs, and all that which I trusted in and on?

All these are the “what ifs” we have heard others ask, and we have ourselves asked at one time or another. Agree?

We hear of that which is to come, but when it comes, we can’t believe it, or we think it would not have happened to me. So, if it does, are you prepared? Do you have a solid foundation on which to stand, or do you now crumble being you built your life on sand?

I heard a good word come from a reliable prophetic voice today, saying that the Lord is doing the shaking because He is wanting people to turn to Him, to know Him, to have faith in Him.

As I wrote in a previous Now Think On This, “You Don’t Need ME If You Have Everything Else”, it is a true word on how so many Americans, how many Christians, how many other nations, have been living like that.

“We don’t need God. We don’t need the One who created us. We have ourselves, our bank accounts, our jobs, our government.” Oh really?

It is not my intention to make light of this, or to make a joke about what is happening. It is very real.

People who have scoffed at the ways of the Lord, the Bible, church, even living a godly life, some even because the church speaker said, “God is love” and you can thus basically do anything you want and it is “OK” with Him,” are now being faced with, “Now what?”

Remember the book, “I’m OK, You’re OK”? (I’m OK – Youre OK is a 1967 self-help book by Thomas Anthony Harris. It is a practical guide to transactional analysis as a method for solving problems in life. The book made the New York Times Best Seller list in 1972 and remained there for almost two years. Wikipedia)

For those who believed that, how is that working out for you? (Another popular question we know someone uses all the time, Dr. Phil…)

It is time for Christians to get real with their faith and decide once and for all what faith they have, and what, or who, they are basing their faith on. We are not to resort to fear.

Fear has even gripped Christians beyond amazing during this time we are experiencing now. If we can’t walk in faith now, what will happen when it REALLY gets bad?

So, you are hoping in some false teaching such as the rapture? I don’t think so.

If your faith is not in Jesus, on Jesus, on His Word the Bible, then you can expect to be shaken, rocked and rolled. His Word is true. It has been prophesied, and it will happen. In fact, the shaking has already begun.

“See that you don’t reject the One speaking! For if those did not escape who rejected him when he gave divine warning on earth, think how much less we will escape if we turn away from him when he warns from heaven. Even then, his voice shook the earth; but now, he has made this promise: “One more time I will shake not only the earth, but heaven too!”

And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain. Therefore, since we have received an unshakeable Kingdom, let us have grace, through which we may offer service that will please God, with reverence and fear. For indeed, “Our God is a consuming fire!” Hebrews 12:25-29, Complete Jewish Bible

Get real faith. And stand in the shaking. The “what ifs” will become, “He has got this.”

Or proclaim it out loud, and declare!

Now think on this.
