March 22, 2020 THE ELIJAH LIST, Demontae Edmonds
From the Desk of Steve Shultz:
I love this word that the Lord just spoke to Demontae Edmonds: “Do you know what just happened?”
This is an amazing revelation that the Lord revealed to our friend Demontae and what just took place this week.
I’m going to let you read this for yourself, and let’s be praying for our great nation, our leaders, and the nations of the earth in this significant moment. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

“The Lord Said to Me: Do You Know What Just Happened?” Demontae Edmonds, Virginia Beach, VA
A Significant Moment
The other morning while quieting my mind before God, I heard the Lord ask me, “Do you know what just happened?” The Lord then began to speak to me that many of His people did not understand the significance of the president of the United States of America – President Donald Trump – calling for a National Day of Prayer on this past Sunday.
The Friday before this, I spoke to one of the pastors under our apostolic covering. He shared with me that in his morning prayer God revealed to him that “Some leader needs to call a national day of prayer.” We both prayed together that an influential church leader would unite leaders together and call for a national day of repentance and prayer.
Hours later, it was announced that President Donald Trump declared Sunday, March 15, 2020 as a National Day of Prayer for the United States of America in response to COVID-19.
This is a Tweet by President Donald Trump (Friday, March 13): “It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these… No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!”
I’m repeating the Lord’s words: “Do you know what just happened?” The governmental leader of our nation just called for a National Day of Prayer, NOT a church leader. Yes, we have a president who declared a National Day of Prayer and did NOT wait for the annual National Day of Prayer in May. God spoke to me about the great significance of this act.
When a leader of a nation repents, prays, and seeks God it orders a window of time and opportunity for national repentance and blessing upon the land.
In the days of King Solomon there was a great dedication of the Temple, a national time of prayer and repentance, and sacrifices before the Lord. Also, there was a national time of seeking God at the tabernacle of God at Gibeon. Three things happened in response to Solomon (the leading governmental authority) leading the nation in seeking God’s face.
1. The Fire of God Was Released
2 Chronicles 7:1, “Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from Heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.”
I believe the fire of God represents not only the acceptance of the fire but the cleansing of the Land from sin, sickness, and disease. When the fire of God was released in Acts chapter 2 it released a new movement and spiritual awakening in the earth realm. The days of Solomon were ones of unprecedented peace, prosperity, and increase. We need the fire of God released once again in our nation.
Public facilities and establishments have closed due to the Coronavirus. During the Second Great Awakening, and other revivals in the 20th and 19th century, towns shut down bars, sporting events, and theaters because CROWDS WERE GATHERING TO PRAY AND HEAR THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Many of these town-wide moments of repentance and seeking God were documented in the periodicals and newspapers of the day in various towns. Even the 20th president of the USA, President James Garfield, preached the Gospel to large crowds that gathered to seek the God of Heaven. (Photo via Pexels)
2. Wisdom for the Nation Was Released
In 2 Chronicles 1:7 it says, “In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, ‘Ask what I shall give you.'” In verse 10 Solomon replied, “Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of Yours, which is so great?” In verses 11-12 it says, “God answered Solomon, ‘Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern My people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you…'”
God gave the leader of the nation supernatural wisdom to govern the kingdom of Israel. This wisdom gave the nation peace without and within. 1 Kings 5:4, “But now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.”
3. An Invitation for the Healing of the Land
2 Chronicles 7:12-14 (emphasis added), “Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: ‘I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and HEAL THEIR LAND.”
The Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and gave him a direct invitation and instruction, FOR THE NATION, if it ever became challenged by drought, catastrophe, or PESTILENCE (disease, epidemic). God promises His people in His Word that pestilence or an epidemic cannot stand or continue to torment the land IF, corporately, God’s people gather to humble themselves, repent, and seek God’s face.
There is a powerful healing that happens on a personal level as we stand upon God’s Word and break covenant with wrongdoing. James 5:16 (emphasis added), “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be HEALED…” God can heal us and our families individually, but HE PROMISES TO HEAL THE LAND when a nation calls for a mass movement of seeking God’s face.
While many children are at home from school and many businesses are having employees work remotely, now is the time to examine ourselves and lead our families in prayer. Repentance and aligning with the purposes of Heaven must begin with the individual and then the family. Let’s take this time not to be discouraged but to examine our walks with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith…”
Repenting for the Past
There is a powerful seed released in the spiritual realm when the leadership of a nation seeks God’s face. We, as a nation, must also be aware of and repent for the ungodly actions of our past administration(s). God spoke to me, specifically, three things from our past administration(s) that have hung in the balances over our nation. I do not feel led to release them here, but I asked for biblical backing for what He spoke to me. (Photo via Unsplash)
2 Samuel 21:1 (emphasis added), “Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, IT IS FOR SAUL, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.”
A three year famine broke out in Israel. Why? Because of the misdeeds of the former administration. This famine happened during the reign of King David, and the people would have most certainly blamed him, BUT, God made known to him that the famine was the result of the wrongdoings of the past leadership.
The Lord spoke to me that many intercessors need to inquire of the Lord: What are the misdeeds of past administrations, and what are places of dishonor that have been released in the spirit realm which we, as a nation, need to repent for and seek God’s favor in?
Prayers and Encouragement
Dear Believers, be encouraged. Again, we have a president who declared a National Day of Prayer and did NOT wait for the annual National Day of Prayer in May. This is a powerful and pivotal moment for our nation and for the Body of Christ. We must not faint or lose heart. God is giving us an invitation to enter into a new season of a harvest of souls and accessing His glory. God promises to heal the land if we seek His face and turn fully unto Him. May God send revival “from the White House to every house!”
Pray for our president, the cabinet, and our current administration – they bear the burden of making decisions that affect our nation’s well-being and protect our borders from threats, both internal and external. Whether we agree with policies or procedures being implemented, it is less important than obeying God’s command to pray for those in authority.
Let us pray for kings and for ALL (Democrats and Republicans) who are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty (1 Timothy 2:2).
GOD WANTS TO HEAL THE LAND. May the USA not only be the shining example of the first nation free from the Coronavirus, but, once again, may it be a pillar to the world of God’s grace and truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
