|SHALOM! We’ve just had our third election this year, which (as Matan predicted in our podcast) has still not produced a stable government. You can hear Matan explain more about the way our elections work and the implications of this third election for Israelis below. But the strangeness of our election situation is not the only unusual thing happening in Israel at the moment – and much of it is good news!|

Israel’s own super bloom happening by the Dead Sea! The Desert Bursts Into Bloom & Three Other Unusual Events
We are living in unusual times. Israel is seeing several strange phenomena spring up within its borders, pointing to the uniqueness of our days. “The wilderness and dry land will be glad. The desert will rejoice and blossom like a lily. It will blossom profusely…” (Isaiah 35:1-2)
Isaiah saw it coming long ago, but could he have imagined the scene we see today? For many years, Israel has cultivated and exported fresh flowers around the world, grown in greenhouses in the desert, so we have been able to see the truth of this verse come to pass already.
It is also not unusual for wild flowers to spring up in the desert after the winter rains, but there is a veritable carpet of flowers draped around the Dead Sea at the moment, the likes of which no one can remember seeing before. Israelis are taking a look for themselves in great numbers, including one of our team, Varya, who took these pictures!
Meanwhile, 42K Israelis tune in to our YouTube channel There has been a significant increase in Israelis coming to faith in Jesus and some rabbis are furious. They’re spreading lies about Jesus, making threats, and inciting violence against us.
We’re making a new series called “The Lies” where we refute them… with a pinch of Israeli humor and a dash of “chutzpah”! It’s wonderful that so many Israelis have subscribed to our Hebrew language YouTube channel and are now hearing the truth about Jesus. Jesus and the Ten Commandments
We generally say that we are not under the Law of Moses anymore, but how about the Ten Commandments? Do they still count? What does Jesus think?
A religious leader inquired of Yeshua, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
This question is found in Luke 18:18, and funnily enough, the number 18 when written in Hebrew spells LIVE! The invitation to choose life is what this verse all about. If someone asked you what they should do if they want to inherit eternal life, what would you say?
Here’s Yeshua’s answer:
“You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.”
This might sound a bit weird to the evangelical ear for a couple of reasons: We tend to think that eternal life is a matter of repentance and forgiveness rather than obeying commandments. Surely Jesus of all people should know that?!
Jesus only lists half of the Ten Commandments, leaving out some rather important ones. Why? Continue reading…
