GOD SENT HIS SON (Matthew 1:21, John 1:1-18)
Why would God be willing to pay such a high price for our salvation? He tells us repeatedly in the Scriptures: it is LOVE that moved HIM to give us His Only Son to pay the supreme price for our peace and salvation. To have sensation of God’s love is very good, but to believe it when you do not feel it, is the best.
GOD SENT HIS SON TO SHOW GOD’S LOVE (John 1:1-18; 3:16)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) This is a very powerful summary of God’s love. It tells us the very heart of God. He is the God of great love.
For God to send His Son to this world, even when we were at enmity with Him, is to show us His love by allowing His only begotten Son to die on the Cross for our own sins. It is the greatest and boldest expression of God’s love.
Not only does God’s word say He loves us but He also perfectly proved His love by sending His Son to save our souls, so that we might live and be with Him, eternally (John !:12) His love for us is not based on “our” action, but on how much He loves us. It is grace in love that He just loves us as we are. (John 1:16)
His love will last forever. He will neither withdraw, nor stop loving us. God has proven His love for us, through His Son, and is still listening to His Son Jesus as He intercedes for us. Love in action – the greatest gift.
Not only does God prove His love to us, through His Son, but also says that if we choose and accept Jesus’ pardon for our sins, then we will receive His Spirit in our hearts (Joel 2:28). Jesus confirmed it (Acts 1:8), it was initiated at the Pentecost ( Acts 2:1-5) and is still happening today.
God sent His Son, not on a fact-finding mission, or simply, a task of compulsion. He sent the Son to die for our sins. He was always full of love. Love is the constant, greatest evidence of the presence and work of God in Jesus Christ.
Brothers and sisters, God sent His only begotten Son to show us the love that we have never deserved. We must forever appreciate Him.
May we continue to enjoy the greatest love of God all the days of our life in Jesus Name.
