“Our Lord is great, his power is vast, his wisdom beyond all telling.” Psalm 147:5, Complete Jewish Bible
Often it has been said that the timing of the Lord is of utmost importance. Well, let me please confirm that. It is.
We have our understanding of the overall picture. It is finite.
God the Father has His understanding of the big picture. It is infinite.
He is God. We are not. So often, after it has all been said and done, I am so, so grateful for that. For indeed, our Father knows best.
As we mature in the Lord, we discover the wisdom of the Lord in all things. It is a true statement. “You can’t see the forest for the trees.” In other words, He sees it all. We don’t. Thus we need to let God be God and direct our steps accordingly, as He is the Wise One, the All-Knowing One, the One Who sits on the throne above. Our God is the Smart One.
Because He can see the big picture from where He is seated, we can entrust our lives into His hands. The more we do that, the better it goes for us. Sixty years in walking with the Lord has proven that in my life. How about you?
For those who have ever been to a sporting event or a band concert, and you happen to sit near the top row (because the seats are more affordable!) you can better see the overall picture because your perspective is higher than the ones sitting in the lower, front areas. When the NASCAR drivers are on the backstretch; when the Mercy Me contemporary Christian band starts to walk on stage to begin the night of worship and joy; when the Phantom in the opera sings from the top stairs and you see him before others do…(these are a few of my favorite things.)
Perspective is a big deal. Remember when you were a kid and you thought you knew it all? (Maybe you are a big kid now and you still do!) But when you had kids of your own, you had hopefully learned a bit in the decades that followed, enabling you to train them up in the way they should go.
So, it is with our Lord Yeshua and His Father, through the outworkings of Holy Spirit. They know it all. Three Persons in One. What a team!
When you get frustrated because you think you should have already been “there” and you are actually “here” on the journey; or when you believe the Lord missed it a year or two ago, or a decade, and now you think you are behind and missed so much – just remember – the timing of the Lord is everything. He knows it all, and you can trust Him that your life, the path He has placed you on, the location He has you right now, is all to get you to the fulfillment of His placement and purpose He has along had for you, along with all those who are also part of His Body.
He gives us in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths. Don’t be conceited about your own wisdom; but fear Adonai, and turn from evil. This will bring health to your body and give strength to your bones.” Complete Jewish Bible
Have faith in God. He is the Smart One.
