Genesis 23:19 (The Israel Bible™)

The names of many Israeli cities have profound significance. According to Jewish tradition, the Hebrew name for Hebron, Chevron, is a contraction of the word chaver, ‘friend,’ and the word na-eh ‘beloved.’ Thus, the very name of the city of Chevron alludes to its most famous resident Avraham, who was the first beloved friend of the Lord, as God says in Isaiah (41:8), “Seed of Avraham My friend.”

Israel365 loves visiting Israel’s holiest cities. Just a couple of years ago, we were awarded the honor of planting trees in the Biblical city of Chevron, strengthening our eternal connection to this Biblical city.
