“In early autumn, when the Israelites had settled in their towns, all the people assembled in Jerusalem with a unified purpose.” Ezra 3:1-2 (NLT)
The same verse in the NASU version: “Now when the seventh month came, and the sons of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem.” The NKJV also says, “as one man.”
There has been a saying now for a long time. In fact, thank you, Benjamin Franklin, when you truthfully, prophetically, spoke this in the 1770s.
“We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.” Benjamin Franklin
He declared these words during the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. “Yes, we must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately” – in reply to a comment by Hancock that they must all together.
Here’s another thought that should also stir your heart up a bit. (If not, check your pulse again.)
How is it that the LGBTQ community has risen to power and influence so fast in the USA and around the world? Because less than 3% of the population, those who say they are unified did unify in their mission to get their agenda out there to accomplish their goal. And they certainly have.
The young pre-Americans, though only colonists at the time, way back 243 years ago (as I write this in 2019), realized early on that if they wanted their 13 different ways they had a part, but now needed to join together to win, or lose the battles and thus the war if they didn’t.
Supernaturally, the Lord gave them the courageous leadership, and committed followers, who looked to Him for their provision, strength, courage, and resoluteness, and then fought to the end to win it all.
They didn’t just sit in their pews to listen to a nice story each Sunday (or Saturday). They got behind the black men in the black robes, on the battlefield in real life, and fought the fight of their lives, in REAL life! They better have, for it was their values, their disciplines, their families that they were fighting for. They had been given land and freedom. Now unify to fight for it or lose it.
So, who are we? Pansies? Little good, loving Christians, who just let everything and everyone have acceptance in all that they decide to do, in “freedom”, as they walk down the road to hell?
“Whatever will be will be?” What atheist wrote that popular movie line decades ago that so many “believers” now abide by? What gospel truth is that from? Not the True, Living God of Israel, Who continues to show, especially through the Jews, Who He really is. (Have you really looked at Israel lately? It is God!)
And we still are taking the Scripture out of context where our Lord said, “Turn the other cheek”???
“Do or die, for Columbus High” we chanted at the victorious basketball games during my high school years back in Waterloo, Iowa in the early 1970s, when we went to the playoff finals in our division. Though we yelled it during the games with our highest voices we could muster, there was truth in it. “Do or Die!” There was power coming forth with the declarations repeatedly made.
Where has that passion gone? When was the sense of urgency lost in our lives today? In the 80s or 90s? A lot was.
We have, for one, lost it while sitting on our couches and comfy recliners over these years wasting away, being brainwashed by the very ones who ultimately want to replace our freedom with only theirs. And we hotly contend that this “entertainment time” relaxes and re-energizes us for the next day. What wasted time, in years, we have given to this idol that Hollywood has so gleefully given us. For free. No charge, except for the cable, and now online, with all of it.
So, what does all this have to say about unity?
Applied rightly or for wrong, it is a biblical principle. As believers in the King of king, the Lord of lord, Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, we better start doing it for the right. Jews and Gentiles together. Christians and Jewish believers together.
Or the rest of the world, even the 3%, will tell us what, when, and how we are to then live. Some have certainly used unity for good. Others have not for good, but because they did, they achieved their goal.
So, who do we serve? It will be too late to change back to what we have lost if we allow their voice to tell us what we are to do. Speak the truth now, or you will be shut up and put down, and not be able to speak at all.
We who know our God better start living as if we really do believe Him.
Be a part of what He prayed, as recorded in John 17:22-24, “The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (NASU)
If you aren’t in a church congregation or synagogue, then I highly suggest you get back in one, or for the first time. And make it work, as you get over your little stigmas or hurts from the past.
You will either hang alone if you don’t, or you will be united with the ones whom the Almighty God will lead to victory over all evil. Your choice.
Now is the time. Not tomorrow.
Be one wanting to know His full ways, always, and then share them with the world He has put us in.
