The “ingathering of the exiles,” known in Hebrew as kibbutz galuyot (קיבוץ גלויות), is promised in multiple places throughout the Bible. Although they are scattered throughout the four corners of the earth, Yechezkel (Ezekiel) declares that one day, God will gather the People of Israel and return them to their ancient soil, the Land of Israel. For centuries, Jews have been praying three times daily for the fulfillment of this prophecy in their central prayer, known as the amidah.
