Leviticus 22:23 outlines the imperative to sanctify the name of God. According to the Talmud, the best way to sanctify God’s name is by ensuring that one’s behavior and speech reflects positively upon God. One must act in accordance with His commandments and treat others with kindness, consideration, and honesty. In Hebrew, the term for sanctifying the name of God is kiddush Hashem (קידוש השם) . This is a commonly used phrase used to describe a praiseworthy act performed by Jews that brings honor and respect to God.
