Today’s Israel Inspiration

We find ourselves amid one of the most special weeks of the year, when the nation of Israel celebrates our festival of redemption. On Passover we commemorate our thanks to God and joyfully sing His praises as we remember what the Lord did for our ancestors long ago in Egypt. Yet, not every Israeli family can enjoy the Passover holiday, as many needy Jews suffer in poverty today in the Holy Land. When Israel rejoices this Passover, may God rejoice and bring the redemption that we are all praying for. Please help a needy family rejoice in the festival of Passover and may God bless you and your family richly.

Top Ten Hebrew Words to Know on Passover

One of the most exciting holidays on the Jewish calendar, Passover is chock-full of educational opportunities and exciting lessons to learn for every generation.  Take a moment to learn the top 10 Hebrew words spoken by Jews throughout the beautiful holiday!

✡ Peace of Jerusalem ✡

The first Hebrew word many people learn is “shalom” (שלום), which has three meanings: hello, goodbye and peace. It is the word with which friends greet one another, but ‘shalom’ is more than a greeting, it is also a blessing. Peace is the most important gift we can ask from God, on an individual level, as families, and between nations. It is therefore of utmost significance that the world’s holiest city, Jerusalem (ירושלים), has the word ‘shalom’ at its core, because it is meant to be the source for all peace on earth. King David exhorts “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” for when Jerusalem is confronted with conflict, the whole world suffers, however when Jerusalem is at peace, the entire world enjoys serenity.
