The Torah considers old age a virtue and a blessing. Throughout the Torah, “old” (zakein) is synonymous with “wise”; it describes Abraham as one who “grew old and came along in days” – his accumulated days, each replete with spiritual growth, meant that with each passing day his worth increased. (from the Lubavitcher Rebbe). Colel Chabad is Israel’s oldest, continuous charity since 1788. With experience and wisdom, Colel Chabad cares for needy elders in the Holy Land, including hundreds of aged and infirm Holocaust survivors who receive desperately needed hot, nutritious meals.
